چکیده

Quantum game theory is a multidisciplinary field which combines quantum mechanics with game theory by introducing non-classical resources such as entanglement, quantum operations and quantum measurement. By transferring twoplayer-two strategy (2 × 2) dilemma containing classical games into quantum realm, dilemmas can be resolved in quantum pure strategies if entanglement is distributed between the players who use quantum operations. Moreover, players receive the highest sum of payoffs available in the game, which are otherwise impossible in classical pure strategies. Encouraged by the observation of rich dynamics of physical systems with many interacting parties and the power of entanglement in quantum versions of 2 × 2 games, it became generally accepted that quantum versions can be easily extended to N -player situations by simply allowing N -partite entangled states. In this article, however, we show that this is not generally true because the reproducibility of classical tasks in quantum domain imposes limitations on the type of entanglement and quantum operators. We propose a benchmark for the evaluation of quantum and classical versions of games, and derive the necessary and sufficient conditions for a physical realization. We give examples of entangled states that can and cannot be used, and the characteristics of quantum operators used as strategies. PACS numbers: 03.67.-a, 02.50.Le, 03.65.Ta

One-point Goppa Codes on Some Genus 3 Curves with Applications in Quantum Error-Correcting Codes

We investigate one-point algebraic geometric codes CL(D, G) associated to maximal curves recently characterized by Tafazolian and Torres given by the affine equation yl = f(x), where f(x) is a separable polynomial of degree r relatively prime to l. We mainly focus on the curve y4 = x3 +x and Picard curves given by the equations y3 = x4-x and y3 = x4 -1. As a result, we obtain exact value of min...

On characterizing quantum correlated equilibria

Quantum game theory lays a foundation for understanding the interaction of people using quantum computers with conflicting interests. Recently Zhang proposed a simple yet rich model to study quantum strategic games, and addressed some quantitative questions for general games of growing sizes [Zha10]. However, one fundamental question that the paper did not consider is the characterization of qu...

The relationship between quantum and classical correlation in games

Article history: Received 22 October 2008 Available online xxxx JEL classification: C72 D80 Quantum games have been argued to differ from classical games by virtue of the quantum-mechanical phenomenon of entanglement. We formulate a baseline of classical correlation – which takes two forms according as signals added to the game are or are not required to be independent of chance moves in the un...

Full characterization of quantum correlated equilibria

Quantum game theory aims to study interactions of people (or other agents) using quantum devices with possibly conflicting interests. Recently Zhang studied some quantitative questions in general quantum strategic games of growing sizes [Zha12]. However, a fundamental question not addressed there is the characterization of quantum correlated equilibria (QCE). In this paper, we answer this quest...

Constructing quantum games from a system of Bell’s inequalities

We report constructing quantum games directly from a system of Bell’s inequalities using Arthur Fine’s analysis published in early 1980s. This analysis showed that such a system of inequalities forms a set of both necessary and sufficient conditions required to find a joint distribution function compatible with a given set of joint probabilities, in terms of which the system of Bell’s inequalit...
